PITTSBURGH, PA – April 15, 2025 – Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, alongside volunteers from Stewart Title, provided critical home repairs for a resident in Pittsburgh’s Hill District last Friday, April 11th, as part of National Rebuilding Month. This local initiative highlights a month-long, nationwide effort dedicated to preserving affordable homeownership and revitalizing communities. The volunteer team from Stewart Title focused on essential repairs necessary for the homeowner’s safety and well-being, including safety modifications, accessibility improvements, and other vital updates that will help the long-time senior Hill District resident continue to live safely and independently in their home.
“Every April, National Rebuilding Month allows us to mobilize dedicated volunteers and partners to make a significant impact right here in our communities,” said Travis Renville, Chief Executive Officer of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh. “We are incredibly grateful for the support of Stewart Title and all our volunteers whose commitment helps us make homes safer and healthier for our neighbors in need.”
Throughout April, Rebuilding Together affiliates across the country engage thousands of volunteers to complete essential home repairs at no cost for neighbors including older adults, veterans, people with disabilities, and families with low incomes. These efforts address critical housing needs, helping residents maintain stability and preventing displacement due to unsafe living conditions.
“The impact of a safe and healthy home cannot be overstated,” said Maureen Carlson, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together. “National Rebuilding Month is a powerful example of what’s possible when communities come together to care for one another.”
Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh’s work extends beyond April. Each year, the organization repairs more than 100 homes in the Pittsburgh region. In 2024, the average household income of homeowners served was just $21,000, while the necessary home repair investments averaged nearly $26,000 per home, underscoring the vital role the organization plays in preserving affordable housing.
